Scotland, the beautiful

Travelling around Scotland is amazing. The scenery is just beautiful. I love the hills and the glens and the old homes and the farms. The only unsightly bits are the fields of Canola, or as they say Rape seed. The yellow is too bright and harsh, and it ruins the scenery. The dark yellow of the gorse is lovely, even the light yellow on the broom is sweet, I just can't handle the canola.

Things are different in Scotland. I had a stovie, which is mashed potato with meat in it and it is served with oat cakees. I have never had an oat cake and they are quite round and flat and as the server placed it on the table, unbeknown to me, one of the oatcakes fell onto the table. I thought it was a coaster and went to put my drink on it.... oops. They are literally really uniform in size, unlike any biscuit I have ever seen.

The licence plates on the cars here are white on the front and yellow on the back, same  number, just different colours, no idea why, unless it's so they know if they are coming or going!!

You can see the front of the car in the bakground, with the white plate. Weird

I have done nothing but eat the last few days and it has been delicous. Yesterday Ally took me to McClarens bakery for a pie for lunch, at James suggestion. It was delicious. My eyes were bigger than my belly, as usual and I still have a sausage roll to eat... That night they took me back to Roos Leap, an Australian resturant in Montrose. I have been there every visit, so this was my third time. Kearie also came in 2012. The front lawn is in the shape of a kangaroo and the decor inside is very Australia, with a lot of Aboriginal art etc. Although the menu is very far from real Aussie food. But I will add a pic and you can see yourself.

The lawn shaped like a roo, under the tables that have been placed there since Covid..
The menu is not exactly Australian.....

Today we went to Dundee to the Redwoods restaurant, the view was spectacular, what a place to have lunch.  The food was delicious and really reasonable.

The view was amazing, I loved it and we got a window table, thanks to Ally

I am off to London tomorrow on the overnight bus and then to Paris.  I will spend one night in Paris and then catch a flight to Croatia.

I have loved being back in Scotland, and I am so grateful to my friends for putting up with me and once again taking me all around the place.  I owe Ally so much Petrol money but he won't even let me pay for all the meals we are having.  Good people are a treasure not to be taken lightly.

I hope to return again in a couple of years to maybe do a tour of the west coast, Skye and the like. Sheonagh is happy to come with me...
