Bosnia and Herzegovina

Today after doing my laundry, I spent more time in the old city. Did I mention the stairs, they are everywhere.. My view at lunch Part if the old fort I then went down to the water and took a 45 minute boat ride out to sea and along the coast then out and around an island.  It was really lovely.  The boat man was pointing out attractions and filling us in on some of the best hotels before the war and the best ones now.  It was amazing to see how the ancients built the fort.  The incorporated the large stone bricks right into the rocks, it was really cool to see.  They had real skills. The way they swim in Croatia..  Checkout the way they buid into the rock. I had dinner in one of the popular streets, no idea what it is called, but the couple beside me where Aussies an they introduced themsleves so we enjoyed our dinner and chatted for about 2 hours.  They were leaving the next day.  I am still to decide where to go.  Yesterday I did a day tou...

Croatia and not booking anything through Opodo again...

Image
After finally waiting half the day to board the flight to Croatia, I find out that the booking I made through Opodo didn't include my booked baggage that I paid for.  The airline staff where great and tried several times to contact Opodo, with no luck. So I had to get out some cash and pay 40 Euros, 70 something dollars to get my case on board,  I contacted Opodo while I was waiting to board and the agent was quite good and once I sent her the receipt to show I had to pay again, she has processed my refund, although it is going to take up to 10 days to get it back.  Oh well stuff happens I finally get to Croatia, arriving at 9.05pm.  Only to discover that the bus ticket I booked, through Opodo, would not be accepted by the local company.  So I had to buy another ticket.  Only costing half the amount Opodo charged me too.  It was late, I was annoyed, what can you do??  Opodo not looking too good about now.. The bus dropped me almost 500 metre...

Leaving Scotland and entering France.

Image
I downloaded this pic of a Scottish magpie, so you can see the difference, they are quite pretty and they don't attack people... I left She and Ally yesterday at 4.10pm, they drove me to Dundee to the bus stop.  It has been amazing catching up with them after 11 years.  I shall miss them.  I hope to come back in a year or two and do a tour of the west coast, around Skye.  Sheonagh is up for it, so lets hoope it works out. The Scottish coundtryside is beautiful.  So lush and green. The bus was an all nighter to London, arriving at about 6am.  We had a 2.2 hour stop over in Edinburgh.  I then had to wait until 7.30 am for my bus to Paris, and what a ride that was. Another chalk white horse, this one a little more modern in design. Just before we left britain to go by train to France, through the tunnel under the channel. Just as our bus is entering the train On the train, in the bus.  It was a 35 minute crossing We had the bus driver from hell, no j...

Scotland, the beautiful

Image
Travelling around Scotland is amazing. The scenery is just beautiful. I love the hills and the glens and the old homes and the farms. The only unsightly bits are the fields of Canola, or as they say Rape seed. The yellow is too bright and harsh, and it ruins the scenery. The dark yellow of the gorse is lovely, even the light yellow on the broom is sweet, I just can't handle the canola.  Things are different in Scotland. I had a stovie, which is mashed potato with meat in it and it is served with oat cakees. I have never had an oat cake and they are quite round and flat and as the server placed it on the table, unbeknown to me, one of the oatcakes fell onto the table. I thought it was a coaster and went to put my drink on it.... oops. They are literally really uniform in size, unlike any biscuit I have ever seen. The licence plates on the cars here are white on the front and yellow on the back, same  number, just different colours, no idea why, unless it's so they know if...

The Beginning

Image
After several days of cancelled flights, I finally left Learra's at 8.30 on Tuesday, taking a taxi to the airport.  Kearie is always saying that she worries about me being forgetful and that I could do with a carer, so I am not telling her I left my new samsung tablet in the taxi and the poor taxi guy had to chase me down through the airport, to return it..   Plus it was really hot in Singapore so I took my cardigan off and placed it on my luggage, I haven't seen it since, no idea where it went, so there's that! I had about a 3.5 hr wait at Tullamarine and then a 7 hr flight to Singapore.  I could only get economy on the flight, so that was a bit disappointing.  I am hoping to upgrade on the way back. I had a 5 hr wait for my flight to London and I arrived in Heathrow at 6.30 am on Wednesday and then decided it would be quicker to take the train to Kings Cross and then a train to Edinburgh, otherwise I had to move airports or wait all day for a flight to ...
